Abstract
In this paper several consequences derived by an equivalent version of the Ekeland variational principle are presented. In particular, a notion of an approximate minimum (for a function defined in a complete metric space), which improves an earlier one given by Attouch and Riahi, is discussed. This is obtained by considering truncations of the metric function.
