Abstract

A Personality Disorder Program for the study and treatment of personality disorders has been opened at the University of Chile Psychiatric Clinic. A multi-disciplinary, professional team made up of psychiatrists, psychologists, occupational therapists, and nurses combine efforts to treat patients, teach, and do research in the area of personality disorders. This article describes how the program functions, as well as the difficulties and challenges it has faced since opening three years ago. It proposes a multidisciplinary approach, integrating biological and psychosocial therapies in treating personality disorder patients. © 2006 Sociedad de Neurolog Psiquiatry Neurocirugbr.
