Abstract

The dysfunction temporomandibular are prevalent of the people, the etiologic factor had been multifactor. They can be associated in structural, functional and psychosocial factors. The studies had showed that the 75% of the people had sign and 33% symptom of TTM. The structural factor are very important, like asymmetries of the components the temporomandibular joint. The condilar asymmetric had been studied in different skeletal patters. We evaluated 331 panoramic radiographic and teleradiographics of subjects age between 8 and 18 years old. We evaluated the ANB angle and condilar vertical high, we used the Habets et al. (1988) method. According to the ANB angle, the teleradiographics and panoramic were distribution in esqueletal class I, 29,4%; esqueletal class II, 58,2 %; esqueletal class III, 12,4%. The condilar asymmetric mayor 3 % in 222 subjects (67,1%). Esqueletal class III was the more prevalence (37, 5%) The asymmetries have a risk structural component, we recommend to have an evaluation of the condilar process in the patient who require orthodontic treatment and for it is necessary to have the more exhaustive analyze in the patients who presents this asymmetries. © 2007 Sociedad Chilena de Anatomía.
