Abstract

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to assess the prevalence of dental caries, periodontal disease signs and oral mucosa diseases in adults population of 35-44 years old in the Valparaíso region. Method: The size of sample consisted of 357 persons randomly selected of 38 municipalities. Information was collected by questionnaire and clinic examination. Results: The DMFT index was 13, 1, periodontal diseases 96% and frequency of oral mucosa 11,7%. The factors associated as schooling, small town, male and welfare showed statistically significant differences with dental caries and periodontal disease. Conclusion: In this the DMFT index is better compared with studies made during last 10 years in Chile and suggest risk factors associated with dental caries and periodontal diseases.
