This article investigates how after the Welfare State fall an authoritarian turn is originated in politics worldwide. One of the key elements to understand this turn is the concept of security mainly understood as a device for the State care. Done this, it can be seen that historical events separated by a considerable temporary data as the Twin Towers fall and the Latin-American dictatorships have close relationship. Finally, it is seen that this conception of security can be opposed by another one: security understood as the social welfare and the strengthening of life.
