A third isolated oxidation state for the Mn-12 family of single-molecule magnets
Abstract
Dianionic members of the Mn-12 family of single-molecule magnets have been prepared by two-electron reduction of the neutral cluster; the [PPh4](2)[Mn12O12(O2CCHCl2)(16)- (H2O)(4)] representative has been shown to possess an S = 10 ground state and to exhibit out-of-phase ac susceptibility signals diagnostic of single-molecule magnetism behavior.
