The origin of the second relaxation process in the [Mn(12)O(12)(O(2)CR)(16)(H(2)O)(4)] single-molecule magnets: 'Jahn-Teller isomerism' in the [Mn(12)O(12)] core
Abstract
The origin of the second, faster relaxation process in Mn(12) molecules has been identified as a different relative orientation of the Jahn-Teller elongation axes of the Mn(III) ions, which we have termed 'Jahn-Teller isomerism'.
