Abstract
This paper presents the analytical model of an axial flux induction motor (AFIM) with anisotropic rotor, through the direct solution of Maxwell differential equations. Expressions for the magnetic vector potential, flux density and linear current density for both the airgap and the rotor of the machine were derived. Field equations can be used to estimate the electromagnetic performance of the machine during the analysis and design stages. The analytical model was validated through simulations by means of Finite Elements Analysis (FEA) over a 20 HP AFIM, showing excellent agreement for the analyzed field variables in each one of the regions considered in the model.
