Guest Host effect in electroconvection patterns

Abstract
The electro-hydrodynamic convection in liquid crystals is mainly driven by electric parameters such as voltage and frequency. But this must be visualized as a join of interactions, where are presents the molecular motion and reorganization of charges in a confined space (cell). Planar alignment corresponds to a parallel molecular organization to the cell surface. In liquid crystals with a positive dielectric anisotropy it is posible to observe roll pattterns. In any cases, depending of the molecular shape (bent core) it is possible to observe Zig-Zag patterns in a subharmonic regime.
