On the vibration analysis of rectangular clamped plates using the virtual work principle

Arenas J.P.

Abstract

The application of the virtual work principle to the vibration analysis of rectangular clamped plates was discussed. The results for natural frequencies for plates of arbitrary aspect ratio and an estimate for the modal density were reported. The method was found to be useful for fast calculations of the sound radiation characteristics of fully clamped plates, where the velocity distribution of the plate is needed.
