Abstract

The purpose of this descriptive-comparative study was to establish a profile of resilience in young and adult drug users in rehabilitation process from Chile, Ecuador and Colombia. The sample consisted of 65 subjects, men and women between 15 and 32 years old, attended in a rehabilitation center, and who voluntarily agreed to participate in this research. Subjects were evaluated using the SV-RES scale during the 2017. The scale allows obtaining general levels of resilience as well as scores in twelve dimensions to the base of this variable. The data were submitted to three analysis: measures of central tendency, dispersion and groups comparison. Among the most relevant results is the high level of resilience exhibited by the Colombian group, an intermediate level in the Ecuadorian case and a low overall level of resilience in the Chilean sample. The “Satisfaction” and “Affectivity” areas are highlighted as weak points, while the more developed areas are concentrated in “Models” and “Generativity”. This may lead to the design of intervention strategies that emphasize the use of non-consumer peers as models,the analysis of practical coping experiences, as well as the strengthening of emotional expression area, affective recognition and generation of support networks.
