Abstract

The present work establishes a theoretical analysis and a field around the meanings that are held in place to the Pawkar Raymi festival in the indigenous Kiwchuas migrants - Otavalo in the city of Santiago de Chile, where processes of rupture with everyday life arise to give way to festive, playful and interactive processes in which it is about reinterpreting ethnic identity and the sense of belonging in the community outlining problems that often are not evident in the community of origin because it is important to take into account It counts the incidence of the elements of the globalized society. The work consists of a conceptual analysis based on the anthropology and the social psychology of testimonies in field research, in which the sources of the first hand are found to understand the processes of affirming ethnic identity in this community.
