Abstract
We detected an occupied nest of Chilean Hawks (Accipiter chilensis) in a mature Plantation of Monterey Pine (Pinus radiata) in the Maule region, central Chile. The plantation was 350 m away to a remnant of native forest in a flatland area. The nest was placed in a large live pine (20 m tall, 41 cm in diameter at breast high) at 10 m in height above ground, and closest to the main trunk (10−20 cm distance). We think this report contribute to better understanding of ecology of Chilean Hawk in fragmented landscapes dominated by exotic plantations.
