Abstract
Pharmacological studies conducted with Ruta graveolens (Ruda) have shown that in its essential oil compounds exist an antimicrobial activity, this result was verified by the research group “of cancer prevention at the Nariño University, showing the effect in vitro of the essential oil of this plant on the Helicobacter pylori. Given that the water deficit is the major abiotic stress affects the plans body and generating various responses, which include the alteration of the secondary metabolism and consequently the presence and concentration of metabolites generated. It raised a study whose aim was to analyze the variation of compounds present in the essential oil of R. graveolens obtained from plants subjected to different levels of water stress and associated with the effect on the bactericidal activity. 30 plants of R. graveolens were used to determined in 100ml the field capacity, based on this parameter is set three irrigation treatments every two days: a control group watered with 100ml, two groups of regulated deficit irrigation with 50ml and 25ml of water respectively; material was collected from each treatment, disinfection and drying oven at 64ºC for 24h to obtain the essential oil by hydro distillation assisted by microwave radiation, was purified with hexane and characterized by gas chromatography. The composition of essential oil of R. graveolens have significant changes between treatment and control the two levels of water stress (mild and moderate) on the concentration in the compounds present, there is a direct correlation between the degree of water stress that was submitted to the plant and the number compounds reported
