Hunting for Brown Dwarf Exoplanet Analogs
Keywords: brown dwarfs
Abstract
Young, isolated, field brown dwarfs (BDs) are close in mass to giant exoplanets thus share many of their spectral and photometric parameters. As they are nearby, relatively bright, and unattached to a bright primary star, young BD's are excellent case studies for examining detailed observational properties which are informative for direct imaging surveys for planets. We have used the recently released WISE all-sky survey as a second-epoch to 2MASS images and exploited the near-mid IR colors on a reduced proper motion diagram to identify potentially interesting, young field brown dwarfs. In this poster we present our methodology, criterion, and current candidate list.
