Abstract

A perturbation-theory framework is developed for calculation of the characteristics of the pi(+)pi(-) atom on the basis of the field-theoretic Bethe-Salpeter approach. A closed expression is obtained for the first-order correction to the lifetime of the pi(+)pi(-) atom. (C) 1997 American Institute of Physics. [S0021-3640(97)00124-2].
