Abstract

Assessment of the depressant activity of different concentrations of eugenol in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) The use of depressants in aquaculture contributes to good management practices, offsetting neuroendocrine and physiological changes that arise during management practices that act as stressors affecting the performance and survival of fish. The aim of this study was to evaluate the depressant activity in rainbow trout of eugenol at concentrations of 30, 50, and 75 mg/L respectively, using specimens belonging to a system of intensive farming. The result of experience found that eugenol is a drug easy to use and inexpensive. The concentrations used induces dose-dependent anesthesia, which allows easy fish manipulation, without adverse events compromising their life during and after administration.
