Zinc absorption and zinc status are reduced after either sleeve gastrectomy or Roux-en-Y gastric bypass in severely and morbidly obese premenopausal women studied prospectively during 24 months
Abstract
Both RYGBP and SG have profound effects on zinc absorption capacity, which are not compensated after 24 months. Also, despite zinc absorption reduction is similar in both types of surgeries, and zinc supplementation is larger in RYGBP that SG, zinc status is more affected in the former.
