Potrero Las Violetas-1 Archaeological Site. The ancient geoglyph constructors of the Valley of Linares, Central Chile
Keywords: : Geo-structures and/or geoglyphs imprints, Potrero Las Violetas-1, Valley of Linares, Central Chile.
Abstract
The recent decoding of the rock art in Cerro Quiñe allowed the discovery of the archaeological site Potrero Las Violetas-1 near the city of Linares, Chile. This site presents a series of geoglyphs imprints and/or geo-structures with geometric designs which are part of a codified language that sought to interpret the cosmic order in a context of highly complex cultural transmission. These antecedents confirm the spatial coexistence of at least two ethnic groups who used dissimilar supports for artistic and ideological expression in the Valley of Linares.
