Abstract

This chapter traces the textual narratives of space in the Eighteenth-century manuscript Historia de la Villa Imperial de Potosí written by Bartolomé Arzáns de Orsúa y Vela. By operationalizing the distinction between orientation and sense of place, we analyse the ways in which the chorographic tradition allowed the author to declare the importance of his native town in a global network of spaces.
