Abstract

Introduction: in accordance with the laws in force in the Chilean context, the nursing profession is assigned the role of care management; this is an specific aspect in hospital care contexts, but has not been clearly defined in primary health care. Purpose: we intended to carry out a bibliometric analysis and to reveal the concept of care management in the context of primary health care in Chile, based on scientific publications from the last 10 years. Methods: a review of the scientific output in Chile over the last 10 years regarding care anagement was carried out. The search was conducted in the following databases: Scientific Electronic Library Online (SCIELO), Medical Literature Analysis an Retrieval System Online (MEDLINE) and Literatura atinoamericana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde (LILACS), using the following DeCS codes: enfermería, enfermería de Atención Primaria, enfermería en salud pública and the code gestión del cuidado. The selected documents were analyzed in a ibliometric and qualitative way. For the latter, the Atlas ti 6.0 program was used. Conclusions: scientific output regarding care management in primary care in Chile is scarce; however, in spite of there being no evidence for the concept as it is in this context, it is possible to identify characteristics and professional challenges associated with this concept.
