Abstract

The pandemic caused by COVID-19 has generated various problems in the teaching-learning process worldwide, in many cases due to the hasty implementation of the so-called Emergency Remote Education, which has made the process more complex the current pedagogy process. That is why this article evaluates the use of m-learning in university students for STEM learning, in times of pandemic, through the use of a mobile application, which was used by students to determine kinematic variables. An instructional model focused on motivation called ARCS was implemented, and the perception of students was evaluated using an instrument designed to quantify motivation called IMMS. A quantitative research approach was applied to collect, process and analyze the research data. The IMMS was applied to 47 engineering students. The results show that the methodology was positively valued by the respondents, and the increase in stimulated motivation could be related to a higher level of learning. A validated measurement model and solid scientific references are provided, which aim to stimulate the use of mobile applications both inside and outside the classroom.
