Abstract

The article explores the relationship between women's experiences and the gender violence in the Triple-border-Area of Parana's River (between Argentina, Brazil and Paraguay). Our objective is to characterize the multidimensional forms of violence experienced by women in these territories through an interdisciplinary review of the state-of-art. We will start by discussing our theoretical framework, defining our approach on the concept of violence and its relationship with women and borders. We will also offer a description of the context of the Triple-border of Parana's River, synthesizing its historical formation and pointing out its urban, economic, and demographic characteristics. Then, we discuss the findings of the studies on: i) trafficking for sexual purposes in these borders; ii) cross-border mobility and female overload; iii) the experience of intersectional discrimination and its implications in the processes of territorial appropriation. In the conclusions, we will frame the various ways in which violence is embodied in the women who inhabit this Triple Frontier.
