Series Partial Power Pre-Regulator for DCX-based Stand-Alone Green Hydrogen Production

Abstract

Hydrogen production through photovoltaic energy is a very promising solution for sustainable energy production. In such systems, the power conversion stage which interconnects the photovoltaic source to the electrolyzer is a key component. In this paper, a two stage DCX-based multistring photovoltaic to hydrogen system is proposed. The proposed converter consist in a partial power pre-regulation stage in cascade with a DCX converter. Thanks to the use of a partial power conversion structure for the pre-regulation stage, it is possible to obtain higher efficiency compared to conventional power architecture. Simulation results are provide to verify the interest of the proposed structure, showing high efficiency up to 98.6%.
