Carbohydrates of Municipal Solid Wastes as Aggregation Factor of Soils
Abstract
Changes in the structural stability of soil when is treated with an uncomposted Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) have been studied in a calcareous soil from South East of Spain. The estructural improvement was related to carbohydrate content of soil and the correlation coefficient was calculated. The equation corresponds to a second grade curve. Maximum of the curve is explained by simultaneous presence of molecules with different capacity to create or stabilize aggregates in the pool of soil carbohydrates.
