Abstract

The article describes contemporary processes of patrimonialization of protected indigenous territories, delving into structural conditions, geopolitical consensus and institutional transformations that facilitate the commodification of spaces that conserve important common resources and ways of life that are not limited to capitalists modes of production. The qualitative design of our situated research favors methodological triangulations (bibliographic sources, participant observation and interviews) that provide flexibility and cultural relevance in accessing the reality of the communities studied. The results make visible experiences of autonomous design carried out by indigenous people to materialize territorial self-determination processes applied to the governance of tourism
