Abstract

In this article, 22 sociolinguistic investigations on the Mapuche language developed in Chile are reviewed, with the purpose of accounting for the dimensions of displacement and the sociolinguistic factors to which these studies give greater attention. To achieve this task, a theoretical discussion is proposed on the phenomenon of sociolinguistic displacement, the dimensions and the factors that activate it, then, with the help of the Atlas.ti program, various propositions and textual units containing categories and subcategories are classified. These propositions and textual units integrate different dimensions of displacement and of the sociolinguistic processes that the language goes through. The study concludes with some reflections referring to the gaps around the sociolinguistic study of Mapudungun in the context of the processes of maintenance and/or displacement. © 2023 Universidad de Playa Ancha de Ciencias de la Educacion.
