Agricultural Dynamics in Chile: Integrating Satellite Imagery, Agroclimatic Data, and Spatial Analysis for Sustainable Food Production
Keywords: ecosystem services, public policies, food production, Digital agriculture
Abstract
In this study, we explore into the intricate dynamics of agricultural production in Chile, emphasizing the integration of satellite imagery, agroclimatic data, and spatial analysis techniques. Using the capabilities of the Landsat satellite, combined with data from the “Red Agroclimatica Nacional” (RAN), we’ provide insights into instantaneous water consumption and its implications for food production. The Moran Index's spatial’ analysis further enhances our understanding of crop distribution and water usage patterns. Additionally, through a comprehensive literature analysis, we bridge the gap between primary data and existing research, offering a holistic view of Chile's agricultural landscape. Our findings underscore the importance of diversifying agricultural production and highlight potential challenges and opportunities to guide public policies and incentives for external and internal markets ensuring sustainable food production.
