Abstract

This paper reflects on the idea of the frontier, understood as a space of expansion, where the known is ends and the unknown begins. Specifically, it seeks to work on the concept of the scientific frontier as a type of limit associated with a limited space, which is observed according to a series of conditions that give it its specificity. In this case, we analyzed Patagonia, its material conditions, and the imaginary that compose it. Through the review of high-impact scientific publications, the aim is to show scientists’ motivations and objectives in their studies on Patagonia. Based on the Web of Science database, the aim is to identify the trends of the most cited and most recent works, trying to elucidate which elements are the ones that most mobilize this researches.
