Abstract
Disasters are critical disruptions in the functioning of communities or societies, and although they are triggered by phenomena of natural origin, their impact is accentuated by the interaction between vulnerabilities, capacities, and exposure to threats of said communities or societies. Societies, governments, and people build risks and vulnerabilities, and therefore it is necessary to act to reduce disaster risk.
