Abstract

Objective: This study aims to analyze the perceptions of kinesiology students regarding the strengths and weaknesses in their learning associated with professional reasoning. Method: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted, employing non-probabilistic sampling, at the beginning of the first and second academic semesters of the year 2020, encompassing students from the first to the fourth year of training at the School of Kinesiology at the Universidad Catolica del Maule. Data were collected using the Q-Sort instrument, which consisted of 14 statements, with scores assigned based on the position of each statement. Results: A total of 273 students, accounting for 78.7% of the total, participated in the study. Students at the initial level of diagnostic competence development exhibited their strongest attributes in attitudinal and communication areas. In contrast, students at the intermediate level of diagnostic competence showcased their primary strengths in procedural and communication areas.
