Abstract
Generating energy from the sun is a trend of the last decades. In general, most of the electrical energy generated from solar radiation is generated by photovoltaic panels. Normally the performance of these systems depends on the position in which they are installed. Hence the importance of knowing the equations that govern the phenomenological relationships of the system, such as voltage, current and power. This paper describes the model of a photovoltaic panel and the equations that govern it. In addition, two simulations of algorithms for controlling the position of a photovoltaic panel so that it always points in the direction of maximum radiation are presented.
