Polymers in cancer research and clinical oncology

Abstract

Global occurrence of cancer has raised an alarm for the development and production of various strategies and materials for the detection, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. Polymers play an important role in the clinical improvement of anticancer therapy. In the last decade, conducting and biodegradable polymeric material played a vital role in the clinical research world via imaging, sensing, drug delivery, photodynamic therapy, chemotherapy, etc. for early detection and treatment of world-threatening diseases. The biocompatibility of polymer depends upon the properties of particles such as shape, surface charge, and scale. At a glance, the clinical progress of these polymers is a recent trend for anticancer agents. The present chapter includes the general introduction of conducting and biodegradable polymers for anticancer agents as well as the strategies involved in the detection and treatment of cancer.
