Abstract

The use of biological therapies is a major advance in the management of an important number of diseases and their use has expanded in various medical specialties for the treatment of immune-mediated, autoinflammatory and autoimmune pathologies throughout practically the entire life cycle. In particular, the use of these therapies in women of childbearing age is a fact and its maintenance during pregnancy has growing evidence that supports a safe use, both for the pregnant woman and for the developing fetus. This document will review the special considerations for its use in pregnant women, clinical followup focused on the risk of opportunistic infections and reactivation of latent infections according to the type of biological agent, prevention through vaccines, as well as providing guidance related to the management of the newborn, to guarantee the well-being of the mother and child binomial.
