Abstract
Objective: To determine the working conditions and health profile of informal workers in a community fair in Chile. Methods: Descriptive cross-sectional observational study. The sample consisted of 69 workers at the free market fair in Chillán. Data collec-tion was carried out by means of a questionnaire of sociodemographic and occupational antecedents and the SF-36. Results: 80.8% of those who worked more than 12 hours a day were men. In health, 42% had chronic diseases, 43% used chronic medication, and 55% did not attend health check-ups. In mental health, over 40% reported poor vitality and 25% had poor social function. Conclusions: The need to formalize employment and advocate for comprehensive support programmer to preserve the health of these workers that consider gender perspectives is highlighted. © 2024, Fundacion Index.
