Predictive factors of health-promoting behaviors in students from two Chilean universities Factores predictores de conductas promotoras de salud en estudiantes de dos universidades chilenas
Abstract
Objective: To determine the predictive factors of health-promoting behaviors in university students. Methods: Observational correlational and cross-sectional study with 504 university students from two regions of Chile. The instrument includedthe Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile (HPLP), psychosocial, and sociodemographic variables. Descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression were performed, considering various predictive factors. Results: The predictor variables included in the model explained 30.2% of the variability in Health Promoting Behavior (H PB).The assumptions of Linear Regression were tested and confirmed. Conclusions: The predictive model revealed that 30.2% of the variability in HPB is explained by factors such as self-efficacy and self-esteem. These findings support Pender's Health Promotion Model, emphasizing its relevance in understanding and promoting healthy lifestyles among university students. © 2024, Fundacion Index.
