Abstract

What changes does the digital world bring to the way we approach health? How are digital technologies affecting medicine? This article presents an overview of these issues, aimed at health professionals, with the aim of supporting the understanding of the transformations that digital technologies are producing in health, medicine and the world of care. It organizes the transformations in the area in five dimensions: data as the basis of the new digital world; the Web as a new space for information and knowledge; communication and digital media; the digital tools and machines in health that make up digital medicine; and the impact of artificial intelligence in the health area.The approach is introductory, emphasizing key themes and literature to encourage further study.
