Participatory Promotion of Physical Activity in Vocational Education Recommendations Based on the Physical activity-Related Health Competence (PArC-AVE) Project
Abstract
There is a growing interest in participatory approaches with regard to physical activity and health promotion based on cooperation between scientists and non-academic stakeholders. The cooperative planning approach, which involves various actors from science, policy, and practice in an equal decision-making process for planning, developing, and implementing interventions, corresponds to such a participatory approach. As part of the PArC-AVE project, five cooperative planning processes have been carried out in vocational education andtraining in the past, leading to the development and implementation of measures to promote physical activity. Based on the extensive results from the PArC-AVE project, this article presents recommendations for participatory promotion of physical activity in vocational education and training. These recommendations contain a description of specific implementation steps in the preparation, development and implementation phases as well as the evaluation of a cooperative planning process. The recommendations thus offer valuable guidelines for the implementation of future cooperative planning processes for vocational education and training.
