Semi-automated validation of the discursive rhetorical model of the Final Report of the Project Title
Abstract
The development of rhetorical-discursive models can greatly support academic literacy processes. However, this task is complicated by the size of the required samples and their manual processing. This article validates the rhetorical-discursive model of the Final Title Project Report genre based on engineering students` writing in Spanish. To achieve this, a corpus of 367 exemplars was used, annotated by five taggers and two supervisors using a semiautomated analysis tool called HERMES (Herramienta de Etiquetado Ret & oacute;rico de Movidas en Espa & ntilde;ol). As a result, it was observed that the macromoves and moves of the hypothesized model for this genre in Spanish are confirmed; however, some communicative purposes are reiterated or appear in unforeseen moves. Regarding the genre, descriptive steps and moves are predominantly evident, to the detriment of evaluative purposes.
