Abstract

This research article evaluates the factors that influence youth unemployment in the Maule Region in Chile; 256 youngsters, living in the Maule Region, aged between 18 and 29 years old participated in this study. The main results suggest that gender, social capital (relational networks and social origin), the quality of education and job skills represent the main determinants of youth unemployment in this region of Chile.
