Abstract
The objective of this research is to analyze gender gaps in the global value chain (GVC) of the wine industry and its consequences for sustainable development in Chile. Its importance responds to the absence of scientific literature on this phenomenon, taking into account the fact that the gender gap in labor participation is 20 p.p. (UNDP, 2022); of the value of this industry in the country; and women contribute to improving the productivity of CVGs (Barrientos, 2019 and Barleta et al., 2020). It is an exploratory research (Hernández-Sampieri et al., 2014) and uses a case study methodology (Yin, 2018), for 25 vineyards in Chile. Among its results, more accentuated gaps in the agricultural segment and in the marketing segment of the CVG of wine; and a direct relationship is observed between business practices that contribute to sustainable development and the female gender of vineyard ownership.
