Abstract

Introduction: Biographical accounts (RB) are stories lived by people, this study analyzes the RB of Isabel, a pediatric nurse. Objective: The purpose of this article is to describe the main ethical aspects of the support relationship established between nursing professionals and pediatric patients. Methodology: Qualitative methodology with biographical account (RB) is used, the information was obtained from a consented, open and in-depth interview. The informant's vision allows us to put into context the main categories related to childcare. Results: Five categories associated with the relationship of help of the nursing professional and pediatric patients were identified; empathy and ethical sensitivity, dissimilarities between institutional interests and care management, self perception of nursing professionals, self-care and coping with critical events. Discussion: Emotions are an important source of moral vision for pediatric nurses. Conclusion: The categories contribute to reflection on ethical knowledge, and relieves emotional sensitivity, to have empathy and compassion in pediatric services.
