Chilean youth: life satisfaction, material values, buying attitudes and debt Jóvenes chilenos: Satisfacción vital, valores materiales, actitudes hacia el consumo y endeudamiento
Abstract
This study aimed to examine the relationship between life satisfaction with material values, attitudes towards consumption and attitudes towards indebtedness in technical higher education students from La Araucanía, Chile. The study was cross-sectional and the sample consisted of 346 participants. The results indicate a direct relationship between life satisfaction and an austere attitude towards debt, while material values are positively related to impulsive and compulsive buying attitudes. Likewise, satisfaction with life differs according to the socioeconomic level of the participants. The results are discussed according to the challenges in terms of financial education and its implications for achieving objective and subjective well-being.
