Abstract

Internationalization in universities has become an important objective to improve quality and promote innovation, which has implied that various institutions adopt or make strategic decisions related to internationalization, especially in a dynamic and constantly changing environment. From the above, this paper focuses on the directors and career managers of Catholic universities in Chile, members of the G9 network, and their perception of internationalization in their institution. A quantitative methodology was used with a questionnaire focused on "institutional support for internationalization". Data were collected from 100 participants from the six defined institutions. The results reveal that the perception of "institutional support" has a positive impact in some universities, while in other cases it does not show statistical significance. In addition, it is observed that the international experience of individuals is linked to universities with greater economic resources. This study contributes to the understanding of strategic decision-making in the context of internationalization in Chilean universities and points out the importance of considering the financing and international experience of those involved in these decisions.
