Abstract

This text offers the annotated Spanish translation of Themistius, In libros Aristotelis De Anima paraphrasis 98.12-109.3 (ed. Heinze), the pages he devotes to his interpretation of the issue of the “agent intellect” in the framework of Aristotle’s noetic. The first part of the article provides biographical data on Themistius, briefly explains his “paraphrasing method,” and considers his general contribution to the highly complex problem presented by Aristotle in De Anima III.5 in the distinction between the intellect that is so by coming to be all things and the intellect that is so by producing them. The paper also furnishes a brief discussion regarding the meaning of the “agent-patient intellect” distinction in Aristotle and seeks to clarify the position taken by Themistius in this respect, emphasizing his constructive developments of Aristotelian noetic.
