Electrochemical Dechlorination of Lindane by Cobaloximes: Kinetics, Adsorption, and Environmental Applications
Keywords: lindane, electrocatalysis, dechlorination, Cobaloximes
Abstract
In this study, the electrochemical dechlorination of lindane was catalyzed by a novel cobaloxime, Co(epNpgH)2Cl(py) (where epNpgH stands for (4-ethoxycarboxyl)phenylaminophenylglyoximate and py for pyridine), together with cobaloximes Co(dmgH)2Cl(py) and Co(dpgH)2Cl(py). The dechlorination kinetics were evaluated by foot-of-the-wave analysis (FOWA), which yielded catalytic rate constants of 7.7 Ã 103 Mâ1sâ1 for Co(epNpgH)2Cl(py), 2.78 Ã 105 Mâ1sâ1 for Co(dmgH)2Cl(py), and 4.19 Ã 104 Mâ1sâ1 for Co(dpgH)2Cl(py). Furthermore, cobaloxime Co(epNpgH)2Cl(py) contains an ethyl ester group, which allows its spectroscopic adsorption behavior to be studied on nanocrystalline titanium dioxide thin films. This analysis revealed an adsorption constant of 5.02 Ã 104. © 2025 Wiley-VCH GmbH.
