Abstract

The authors regret these errors in the published manuscript: 1. Section 2.3 “Fractionation of phenolic compounds”. The solvent ratio was incorrectly written as “7,7,6, v,v”. The correct notation is:”7:7:6, v/v”.The corrected sentence should read: “The samples (5 g) were mixed with a methanol: acetone: water solution (7:7:6, v/v), incubated for 20 min at 30 °C, and centrifuged (Hermle Z 206A, Labortechnik, Germany) at 4000g for 5 min.” 2. The supplementary material was not available in the original publication. We now provide the full supplementary content below for inclusion, and the associated video files are attached as separate files.Supplementary Material[Figure presented] Supplementary Fig. 1. Dose-response curves of Free and IB fractions of calafate byproducts on Caco-2 cells exposed to H2O2. Cells were loaded with dichlorofluorescein (DCFH-DA) for 30 min and then, 5 mM H2O2 was incubated with different dilutions (1/103–1/106) of free (open circles) and insoluble-bound (close circles) fractions. Maximum value of intracellular oxidation was achieved by exposing the cells to hydrogen peroxide in PBS. Data was fitted the hyperbolic decay equation [Formula presented] to estimate the IC50 value. Data corresponds to average ± SE of three independent experiments. Video 1. Video of Caco-2 cells expressing the HyPer biosensor and exposed to the IB calafate extract.[Figure presented] Video 2. Video of Caco-2 cells expressing the HyPer biosensor and exposed to the free calafate extract.[Figure presented] The dominance of the magenta channel (420 nm) and the green channel (490 nm) indicates a reduced and oxidized intracellular environment, respectively.
