Abstract

Currently, there are several strategies for creating user experience evaluation instruments for specific domains. Some of these approaches focus on introducing new approaches to develop and expand the field of user experience evaluations. We analyzed various studies related to the development of user experience instruments to identify the steps and characteristics of these procedures. We identified four types of procedures: apply an agile method, create instruments based on literature review, mix existing instruments, and modify existing instruments. However, a small number of these studies explicitly described the step-by-step methodology applied or the approach used; and even fewer provided a validation process for the proposed instrument. Therefore, there is an interesting area of research to formalize the process of creating new user experience evaluation instruments. © 2025 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V.
