Research management system: Business process and rules

Abstract

This article shows the business model associated with a university research management system, defining processes, business rules and states of the different research activities submitted to competitive funding. The result has been a system that operates on a web platform with the purpose of facilitating the management of research by including a set of utility services for exclusive access by users based on their profiles (executives, researchers, visitors and others). The information managed is related to programs, projects, events and products resulting from the research activities carried out by researchers. At the strategic level, it has a set of management indicators and statistics data related to the research capabilities of an organization. The platform has been developed and implemented in a higher education institution in Chile and provides information aimed at meeting the needs of its main stakeholders.
