Abstract

Education in recent times has raised transformations in its role and in its way of operating; virtual education being one of the most significant changes. The objective of the study is to determine the factors that influence the expansion of online education in Latin-America. The used methodology was documental review. Four factors were identified: socioeconomic; sociopolitical; socioculture; and sociotechnological. It is concluded that this reality demands institutions not only a change of attitude and openness, but also, the transformation of teaching models and institutional governance.
